Who
Killed America Democracy: An Inside Peek At Our Political Process
I
am pleased to announce a presentation entitled, “Who Killed
American Democracy? An Inside Peak At Our Political Process.”
By
the end of this lively, interactive session, students will be
able to: (the number points should be next to the first word in
the sentence - this spacing is off)
1) Identify the rights of citizens in a democratic society;
2) Make government accountable to the people, rather than to special
interests;
3) Understand how the media actually reports politics and what
can be done to improve it.
Topics
include:
*The difference between fair elections and America’s current
political process
*Why is political competition an illusion?
*The media’s role in a democracy
*Discerning fact vs. opinion in media coverage
*The role of independent voters in a two-party system
*Why should all eligible citizens vote?
This
talk includes the screening of short media clips from the political
documentaries of Jo Streit and is available as a:
• 30-minute presentation
• 1-hour keynote speech
• Part of a panel discussion
“Who Killed American Democracy? An Inside Peak At Our Political
Process” is the culmination of fourteen years of work documenting
grassroots activism. I produced and directed the film Flirting
with Power an exclusive behind the scenes look at Ross Perot’s
independent campaigns in 1992 and 1996. This led to an invitation
to give the keynote speeches at both factions of the Reform Party
2000 National Convention that was broadcast live on C-SPAN.
I
welcome the opportunity to be of service!
Warm
Regards,
Jo
